To some being a web developer may seem like a boring job.  They may view it as a career that you sit at a desk for long hours staring at a computer while writing and sifting through thousands of lines of code.  I however do not view my job as boring.  I really enjoy it and I thought I would share the things I love the most about being a web developer:

1. Between all the different technologies out there, all the new ones that arise, and the changes in existing technology I am constantly learning new things.  You never seem to be able to get to a point of knowing “everything”, but I wouldn’t want it this way because what is the fun in not being challenged?
2. Web development has definite solutions.  In the end your software, program, function, or whatever you are developing either works or it doesn’t.  Now there may be a right way or wrong way to get the job done, but in the end you can prove (if you actually developed it to the specifications given) that your code performs the correct actions.
3. Unlike some jobs web development is work you can do from home.  This is nice when I have a day that I need to be at home to wait for a repair person or delivery, but don’t really need or want to take the day off from work.
4. At least in the positions I have held, I get to create software or sites that the public uses.  It’s really cool to be able to tell someone a URL and they can see or use your work.
5. I have an aptitude for web development.  It of course has its challenges, but overall I can pick up anything new quickly and execute code accurately.

These are just a few reasons and I am sure there are more, but I can’t think of any more at this point :)  I am just happy to be able to say that I love my job!
